There is no increase in the average rate per kilowatt hour (kWh) for April 2019 compared to March 2019. The unusually high electricity bill for the month of April 2019 is due to higher kWh consumption attributable to the following factors:
1. Warmer weather in April compared to March which could have resulted to higher usage of electricity, especially on the use of cooling appliances.
2. Historically, residential consumption increases during school summer breaks when students and school personnel are at home longer than usual.
3. The March 2019 Billing consists of only 28 days usage since this covers February-March cycle, with February having only 28 days. On the other hand, however, the April 2019 Billing contains 31 days of usage as this covers March-April cycle, with March having 31 days. Therefore, the registered KWh consumption for April is longer by 3 days as compared to March 2019.
4. For customers whose meters were read after April 17, the billing cycle extended to 33 days. The additional 2 days is due to no meter reading activity during Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, in observance of the Lenten season. In this case, therefore, the April 2019 Billing is longer by 5 days compared to that of March 2019.
